About Gerald Petievich

Gerald Petievich is a crime fiction writer with a background in law enforcement. He served as an Army counterspy and a U.S. Secret Service agent, where he protected Presidents and led counterfeit investigations. Drawing from real-life experiences, Petievich's novels aim to achieve authenticity in the mystery and thriller genre. Some of his notable works, including To Live and Die in L.A., Money Men, and The Sentinel, have been adapted into major motion pictures.

Petievich comes from a police family; his father and brother were members of the Los Angeles Police Department. He graduated from California State University of Los Angeles, where he studied Russian language and history. He then joined the US Army Intelligence Corps, learned German at the Defense Language Institute, and served in West Germany, receiving a commendation for his work during the 1968 Soviet Invasion of Czechoslovakia.

In 1970, Petievich joined the United States Secret Service. His career as a special agent spanned 15 years, including assignments as a law-enforcement attaché at the US Embassy in Paris, France, and as the Secret Service representative to the U.S. Department of Justice Los Angeles Organized Crime Strike Force. While stationed in Paris, he began writing early in the morning, producing his first novel, Money Men, which was later adapted into the film 'Boiling Point.'

Petievich's other novels include One-shot Deal, Quality of the Informant, and To Die in Beverly Hills, featuring the protagonist Charles Carr, a veteran Secret Service agent. Based on research with his brother, John Petievich, who was part of the Los Angeles Police Department’s gang detail, he wrote the crime thriller Earth Angels.

After leaving law enforcement, Petievich continued his writing career with works such as Shakedown, set in Las Vegas, and two political thrillers, Paramour and The Sentinel. The Sentinel was also adapted into a movie starring Michael Douglas.

In his private life, Gerald Petievich is a boxing fan, a 32nd Degree Freemason, and a Shriner. He lives with his family in Southern California.
